Twice the thickening power of flour: 1 tablespoon Bob’s Red Mill Cornstarch equals 2 tablespoons flour.

To thicken hot liquids, first mix cornstarch with a little cold water until smooth, then gradually stir into hot liquid and boil, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.

Cornstarch is a terrific ingredient for thickening puddings, pie fillings, sauces, soups and stews. It’s also widely used in many cake and cookie recipes to produce finely textured baked goods.

Tips for Use: 1 Tbsp Bob’s Red Mill Cornstarch = 2 Tbsp Flour. Cornstarch has twice the thickening power of flour. When a gravy, sauce, soup or stew recipe calls for flour, use half as much cornstarch to thicken. To thicken hot liquids, first mix cornstarch with a little cold water until smooth. Gradually stir into hot liquid until blended. Stirring constantly, bring to boil and boil one minute.
